FEATURING
front: ☭ The coat of arms of the Soviet Union ☭

The state emblem showed a yellow hammer and sickle covering a globe with a red star above. A bundle of wheat on both sides of the globe were wrapped in a red ribbon. The bases of the bundles formed a saltire below the globe where a golden Sun rose between them, indicating the dawn of a new day for mankind.

back: Value within octagon flanked by sprigs with date below.

Lettering: 20 КОП
Translation: 20 Kop (Kopecks)

Because the political structure and borders of the USSR shifted over time, the number of ribbons on the state emblem was dynamically updated to reflect the country's composition:

• 6 Ribbons (1923–1936): Represented the founding republics (Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Transcaucasian SFSR, Uzbek, and Turkmen SSRs).

• 11 Ribbons (1937–1946): Updated after administrative changes split the Transcaucasian SFSR and created new Central Asian republics.

• 16 Ribbons (1946–1956): Featured on the top coin in your image. This era included the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), Moldova, and the short-lived Karelo-Finnish SSR.

• 15 Ribbons (1956–1991): Featured on the bottom coin in your image. In 1956, the Karelo-Finnish SSR was dissolved and integrated into the Russian SFSR as an autonomous region, causing the emblem to permanently drop down to 15 ribbons until the collapse of the Soviet Union
