This specimen was minted in Philadelphia for the Netherlands East Indies in 1942 and 1945. These coins were produced at American mints, the Netherlands being under German occupation during World War 2.
In 1949, the Dutch gave up their attempt to reconquer their colony and Indonesia obtained its dependence.
