Democratic Republic of Afghanistan 1978 Afghanistan 1 Afghani {1-year issue} FEATURING front: coat of arms Lettering: ١٣۵۷ On 19 October 1978 the PDPA government introduced a new flag, a red flag with a yellow seal, and it was similar to the flags of the Soviet Central Asian republics. The new flag stirred popular resentment, many Afghans saw it as proof of the PDPA government's secular nature. It was shown to the public for the first time in an official rally in Kabul. The red flag introduced under Taraki was replaced in 1980, shortly after the Soviet intervention, to the more traditional colours black, red and green. The PDPA flag, which was red with a yellow seal, was retained to emphasise the difference between the party and state to the Afghan people. The red star, the book and communist symbols in general, were removed from the flag in 1987 under Najibullah. back lettering: يوه ١ افغانى Translation: 1 Afghani • quantity 1 • demonetized {no longer in circulation} polished Copper-nickel coin • diameter: 23 mm • weight: 4.6 g ***Choose from drop down menu *** {2 mm thick cords} 22" black cotton necklace 24" silver plated ball chain {lightweight 5 g} 1-1/8" silver color keychain with 30 mm ring {see last photo} ****If you need a shorter length black necklace please message me**** facebook.com/coinedJewelry instagram.com/coinedJewelry twitter.com/coinedJewelry pinterest.com/coinedJewelry tumblr.com/blog/coinedJewelry
