Fiji 10 cents FEATURING front: throwing club - ula tava tava The Fijian throwing club or ula has a large, fluted, petal-like head, with numerous nodes around a central node. One of the nodes has a large root knot adding to its sculptural qualities. Such clubs were carved from the buttress roots of ironwood saplings. They were worn by warriors in their waistbands and then thrown, with great precision, at the skulls of their assailants. They were a well-known weapon to early European sailors who reached Fiji - many had ulas hurled at them, and the ulas were known for their speed and accuracy. back: Young bust Lettering: ELIZABETH II FIJI • quantity 1 • polished Copper-nickel coin • diameter: 23.6 mm • weight: 5.6 g ***Choose from drop down menu *** {2 mm thick cords} 22" black cotton necklace 24" brass ball chain 2-1/2" brass snake keychain with snap end {see last photo} ***If you need a different length black cotton necklace message me*** Suva Coral Coast Oceania South Pacific island Polynesian scuba diving UK British coin jewelry, Fijian, Melanesia, Viti Levu island, Lautoka city, Nadi city, Labasa town, Levuka town, South Pacific Ocean, iTaukei people, Denarau Island, Mamanuca Islands, Polynesia
