Finland 5 Markkaa FEATURING front: Lake Saimaa ringed seal (Pusa hispida saimensis) The Saimaa ringed seal (Pusa hispida saimensis) is a subspecies of ringed seal (Pusa hispida). They are among the most endangered seals in the world, having a total population of only about 320 individuals. The only existing population of these seals is found in Lake Saimaa, Finland (hence the name). The population is descended from ringed seals that were separated from the rest when the land rose after the last ice age. This seal, along with the Ladoga seal and the Baikal seal, is one of the few living freshwater seals. Saimaa is a lake in southeastern Finland. At approximately 4,400 square kilometres (1,700 sq mi), it is the largest lake in Finland, and the fourth largest natural freshwater lake in Europe. It was formed by glacial melting at the end of the Ice Age. Major towns on the lakeshore include Lappeenranta, Imatra, Savonlinna, Mikkeli, Varkaus, and Joensuu. The Vuoksi River flows from Saimaa to Lake Ladoga. back: Small insect, dragonfly, on lily pad leaves • quantity 1 • demonetized {no longer in circulation} polished Aluminium-bronze coin • diameter: 24.5 mm • weight: 5.5 g ***Choose from drop down menu *** {2 mm thick cords} 22" black cotton necklace 24" brass ball chain 2-1/2" brass snake keychain with snap end {see last photo} **If you need a different length cotton necklace, leave a note upon checkout** facebook.com/coinedJewelry instagram.com/coinedJewelry twitter.com/coinedJewelry pinterest.com/coinedJewelry
